The Virginia Employment Commission is pleased to provide you with easy access to workforce services for businesses, employers and citizens, job opportunities, and labor market information in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

ATTENTION: Customers seeking unemployment assistance are encouraged to use our online services as a first option since they will be able to reach the VEC quicker than by telephone.

If you must use our phone services, the toll free number to call is 1-866-832-2363

  • Customers with a social security number ending with an odd number are asked to call on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
  • Customers with a social security number ending with an even number are asked to call on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.
  • This process will not affect the benefit amount or adversely delay the processing of the customer’s claim for benefits.
In an effort to better accommodate our customers, the Virginia Employment Commission's customer contact center will be open from 8:15 a.m. to noon on Saturdays .

VEC offices and the Customer Contact Center will be open during regular business hours on
Friday, January 16.
