Lawrence E. Beard
Deputy Comptroller for Licensing
Lawrence E. Beard is the deputy comptroller for Licensing, a commissioned national bank examiner, and a 31-year veteran of the Office of the Comptroller of
the Currency (OCC).
Mr. Beard commenced his OCC career as a financial intern in 1974 while attending Rockhurst College, in Kansas City, Mo. After graduating with a bachelor's of science degree in Business Administration, he began his full-time employment as a field examiner.
Mr. Beard relocated to Washington, D.C., in 1984 as a management intern. Among other positions, he has served at Headquarters in Special
Supervision and Financial Management, and as a field manager in Illinois. In 1997, he was selected as the assistant deputy comptroller for the St. Louis Field
Office. As the assistant deputy comptroller, he supervised community and mid-sized banks in the St. Louis and Evansville areas.
In February 2004, he was selected as the deputy comptroller for Licensing. In his new position, Mr. Beard oversees the overall corporate applications
functions in OCC's Washington D.C. headquarters and its four district offices.
Mr. Beard and his wife of 29 years have a son and two granddaughters.
