AUSTIN, Texas -- As two FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Centers in Montgomery County prepare to close, disaster recovery officials remind everyone that FEMA is always just a phone call or mouse click away.

Both centers are scheduled to complete operations at close of business, Friday, Nov. 21. Until then, the centers remain open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The centers are located at:

CONROE
Central Library
104 Interstate 45 North
Conroe, TX 77301

THE WOODLANDS
Courthouse Annex
9909 Grogans Mill Road
The Woodlands, TX 77380

"Texans need to know that disaster help is still available even when a center closes or moves to another location," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "Follow up on applications or ask questions by calling the FEMA toll-free number or visiting the Web site."

The FEMA Web site is www.fema.gov. The teleregistration number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Both numbers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice.

"We urge applicants to follow through with their recovery process," said Federal Coordinating Officer Sandy Coachman. "While applying is the first step, you still should follow up on your application and continue to update your contact information," she said.

A listing of recovery centers is available at www.txdps.state.tx.us/dem/pages/dr1791_drc_list.htm.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
