HHS Assistant Secretary for Aging to Address Michigan Aging Forum Will Join Rep. Knollenberg to receive Senior Wellness Award

HHS Assistant Secretary Josefina G. Carbonell will join Rep. Joseph Knollenberg (R-MI) at a roundtable discussion entitled “Wellness Programs for our Aging Population”  sponsored by the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan on Monday, April 28, 2008 in Pontiac, Michigan.

Background:Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) is a faith-based, non-profit, multi-site system that has served seniors of all faiths since 1945.  PVM has 19 senior living communities including continuing care retirement communities, subsidized senior housing and market rate senior housing. PVM is expanding its wellness program, Bloom!, to all 19 of its villages. This program complements the evidence-based prevention efforts of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Administration on Aging because of its integrated, comprehensive and holistic approach to assist seniors to remain as active and independent as possible. Prior to the wellness forum, Assistant Secretary Carbonell and Rep. Knollenberg will be honored for their leadership in area of prevention and senior wellness.
