IRS to Conduct Telephone Survey of Tax Professionals |
|
The Small Business Self-Employed (SBSE) division of the IRS will conduct its annual survey of tax professionals beginning in early November and running through January 2009. This voluntary survey is designed to gather the opinions of tax professionals on their experiences with filing federal tax returns and dealing with the IRS on behalf of their clients. This year’s survey has been expanded to capture feedback from unenrolled return preparers, in addition to CPAs, attorneys and Enrolled Agents. Respondents will be randomly selected and contacted by the survey contractor, Pacific Market Research (PMR). Those selected will receive a pre-letter from PMR and also a letter from SB/SE Commissioner Chris Wagner providing further details and a contact point to answer any questions. This letter will then be followed by a telephone call from PMR to complete the actual survey. The survey is strictly voluntary and all responses will remain anonymous. PMR will not ask for SSNs or EINs or any other personal financial information. The survey will take approximately 18 – 25 minutes to complete. The opinions and suggestions of tax professionals provide SB/SE with vital information needed to improve our services. If contacted, we would certainly appreciate your cooperation and willingness to participate in this important market research study.
