The Financial Management Service, Debt Management Services (DMS) will host its 2009 Legal Conference on January 27th in Washington, DC. Topics will include termination of debt collection, legal overview of administrative wage garnishment, and other legal subjects related to the collection of federal nontax debts. This conference is FREE of charge to Federal agency participants. Interested program staff and legal counsel, whether you are experienced or have little or no knowledge of the Federal Debt Collection program are welcome to attend.
On January 28th DMS will hold a class on "How to Conduct an AWG Hearing". This workshop is for you, if you need guidance on what to do when a debtor requests a review or a hearing. The class will cover all the pertinent information necessary to conduct an AWG hearing. At the conclusion of the class, attendees will receive a certificate of completion. All Federal agencies are strongly encouraged to attend.
The Legal conference and AWG Hearing training will be held on January 27 and January 28, 2009, at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) - Jefferson Auditorium, 1400 Independence Ave, S.W., Washington, DC 20250.
Registration for the conference and AWG Hearing training can be completed via the Internet at www.fms.treas.gov/debt/Training_DMSLegal_Conf_AWG_Hearing.html. Please register by January 16, 2009. Due to the high volume of interest in this conference and AWG Hearing training, notice of cancellations is mandatory. If you cancel within three days of the date the event, it may affect your ability to register for future conferences and workshops.
