Announcing a Special Collection of Online Learning Tools on Violence Against Women. This collection provides a sampling of available online learning with subject matter related to violence against women prevention and intervention.  Materials meet these 4 criteria:  Free, available on line, interactive, and self-guided.  The materials can be used for staff development or as tools for training groups.  For more information visit  the VAWnet website. 
  
National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week is February 2-6, 2009. Join OVW this month and throughout the year in their efforts to address and prevent dating violence. For more information, visit the OVW Web site. (OVW)

The Victim Rights Law Center, in partnership with the Office on Violence Against Women, is offering a free training for all OVW grantees on Sexual Assault Survivors' Core Needs and Services: Persuing Justice through Civil Legal Remedies. There is no registration fee for this conference: it is open to all OVW grantees (and sub-grantees, grant partners, etc.)  The conference will be held at the Westin, San Diego.  For more information, and to register for this exciting opportunity cllick here.

The annual CDC report Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance finds that chlamydia and gonnorhea cases topped 1.4 million in 2007.  These are the most commonly reported infectious diseases in the United States, and continue to pose a serious threat to fertility.  Syphyllis once felt to be on the verge of elimination is also on the rise, having a 15.2% increase in 2007.  The full report is available on the CDC web site at this link.   

Witness Justice and the Office on Violence Against Women begins a joint venture into on line learning! TrainingForums.org  is a cost effective, accessible, dynamic e-learning facility providing relevant, timely training and discussion to the domestic violence victim service provider community.  The first on line course titled Trauma Informed Care is already available!  To see this new innovative tool visit the TraingForums.org web site.

The Office for Victims of Crime is Kicking off the 2009 Training Season.  Register on line and find out more about what classes are available at the OVC TTAC web site.

The Fifth National Sexual Assault Response Team Training Conference will be held May 27-29, 2009.  On line registration is now open!  There are scholarship opportunities available for this conference for SART teams who wish to attend together.  This three day conference is anticipated to have over 1,000 multidisciplinary attendees who will attend training conducted by leading experts in each of the SART disciplines.  To take advantage of early bird rates, visit the SANE-SART web site.
