Kentucky Government Officials View Argonne Battery, Transportation Technology Projects

Governor Steve Beshear of Kentucky, members of the Kentucky government, and Kentucky university officials visited Argonne’s battery materials and vehicle systems groups, among others, on November 5, 2008. The visitors explored collaborative opportunities with Argonne during their stay.

Vehicle Systems Manager Glenn Keller said of the visit, “The State of Kentucky has the third highest concentration of U.S. automobile production and represents a perfect synergistic partner for Argonne in terms of collaboration on advanced technologies for sustainable transportation.”

Accompanying Governor Steve Beshear were Deborah Clayton, Commissioner, Department of Commercialization and Innovation; Larry Hayes, Secretary of Governor’s Executive Cabinet; Len Peters, Secretary of Energy & Environment; Lee Todd, President, University of Kentucky; Jim Ramsey, President, University of Louisville; Yang-Tse Cheng, Researcher-Batteries, University of Kentucky; Mahendra Sunkara, Researcher-Batteries, University of Louisville; and Greg Larimore, Governor’s Office.
