Mobility and Safety—The Michigan Approach (PDF)
The Michigan State Safety Commission funded the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments
(SEMCOG) to create the Elderly Mobility & Safety Task Force. The Task Force
assessed elderly mobility and safety and then produced the Final Plan of Action
presented in this link. This action plan contains background data as well as findings,
recommendations, and resources regarding traffic engineering, alternative transportation,
housing & land use, health and medicine, licensing, and education & awareness.

Asociation of Governments Regional Action Plan on Aging and
Mobility (PDF)
The Maricopa Association of Governments Elderly Mobility Working Group produced
a Regional Action Plan on Aging and Mobility. This link provides access to that
document which contains information and recommendations regarding infrastructure
and land use, alternative transportation modes, older driver competency, and education/training.

Federal Transit Administration Report on Innovative State and
Local Planning for Coordinated Transportation
The United States Federal Transit Administration (FTA) produced this report detailing
the background of coordination in transportation; state and local case studies of
partnerships; shared planning resources; joint identification of client needs; identification
of transportation services, costs, and revenues; establishment of cost-sharing arrangements;
performance measurement; measuring cost savings and benefits of coordination; and
combining the planning strategies into an effective process.

Federal Transit Administration’s Planning Guidelines for
Coordinated State and Local Specialized Transportation Services
The U.S. Federal Transit Administration (FTA) created this report which contains
information on the support of coordination by federal policy, the significance of
coordination, federal resources, an overview of planning, and instructions on coordinating
the planning process.
