The Zone

The Zone is an innovative, engaging interactive CD-ROM on HIV prevention for high school students. The project was funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The goal of the program is to help adolescents prevent transmission of HIV/AIDS by helping them avoid unprotected sexual intercourse either through the use of condoms by those who are sexually active or the delay of sexual intercourse among those who are not sexually active. The Zone was evaluated in Boston high schools. The program provides a unique combination of video role play segments, photographs and audio, cutting edge animation and games, and text articles for maximum engagement by the user.
