Tiffany's Story:
In the Air Force, Tiffany Peters was responsible for helping maintain the F-117A Night Hawk, the world's first operational aircraft designed to exploit low-observable stealth technology. She focused on the heat absorbing tiles that keep the aircraft from being detected by enemy infrared sensors. It was a complex, skilled job, but Tiffany wasn't quite sure how it applied to the civilian workforce.
"When I was coming out of the service, I didn't know what I wanted to do," says Tiffany. "I just knew I wanted to come home to Michigan because my family was there. Towards the end of my enlistment, I contacted my veteran representative, Rod Tanner, who had lots of resources. We discussed educational options like work study, and he set me up with interviews."
Working in the Bay City Michigan Works Service Center, Rod Tanner, Tiffany's local veterans' employment specialist, thought her attention to detail and reliability were ideal for United Parcel Service. He knew that UPS recognized the intangible benefits of veterans for their workforce.
