IV Solution Reuse
Can intravenous (IV) tubing and/or solutions be reused?
According to the American Society of Anesthesiologists' (ASA) Recommendations for Infection Control for the Practice of Anesthesiology, "All infusions (fluids and containers) and administration sets (IV tubings and connections) are single-patient use." Single-use (disposable) devices should be used once and then discarded appropriately. These items are neither designed nor intended to be cleaned, disinfected, or sterilized for reuse.
