SUBJECT:                        Series of Compliance & CRA workshops in December
 
 
The Southeast Region of OTS will host a series of Compliance & CRA Workshops for thrift Compliance, BSA, and CRA officers in early December. The events are designed to benefit those with primary duties involving risk management under fair lending, consumer protection and certain other public interest laws and regulations, such as the Bank Secrecy Act and the Flood Disaster Protection Act. It is also intended for those responsible for the institution’s Community Reinvestment Act performance. Please consider this letter as our invitation to all members of your staff who would be interested in attending one of these workshops. 
 
All sessions will be conducted by seasoned Regional Compliance staff responsible for the examination function. We will provide updates on recent changes to the regulations and examination procedures. We will make time for questions and interaction amongst the participants. I encourage you to permit your staff to attend.
 
The workshops will be held the first two weeks of December in four locations. Please see the attached information for the location most convenient for you. Each workshop last from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. with registration and continental breakfast starting at 8:00 am. 
 
Registration information is enclosed. Your free registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, and all training materials. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited for each of the workshops. Please return your registration form no later than November 21, 2008. We look forward to seeing you and others from your institution at the workshops. Please direct any questions you may have to Lynn Bedard, Community Affairs Liaison, at (404) 888-8443 or by email at lynn.bedard@ots.treas.gov.
