C.K. Lee is regional director in the OTS’s Midwest Region, headquartered in Dallas, where he is responsible for the supervision and regulation of the savings and loan industry in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. The region’s caseload includes more than 170 OTS regulated institutions and more than 150 examiners, field managers and headquarters staff.
Lee joined OTS in 2004. Before joining the Midwest Region, he was a Managing Director in Washington, D.C., responsible for the supervision and regulation of the financial conglomerates overseen by the OTS. He also handled the agency’s international affairs and oversaw OTS’s implementation of the Basel II bank capital accord. He supervised an oversight and international affairs staff in Washington, D.C., as well as conglomerate examiners in the field.
Prior to joining the OTS, Lee worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as a Special Advisor to Chairman Donald Powell. During his tenure there, he served as a member of the executive team advising the Chairman on policy and operational matters affecting the FDIC. He also handled international issues for the Chairman, including technical assistance and the FDIC's membership on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.
Lee began his career on Capitol Hill as an advisor to U. S. Senator Connie Mack of Florida, a senior member of the Senate Banking Committee. During his tenure with Senator Mack, Lee worked on the development and passage of the Gramm Leach Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, debt relief for Highly Indebted Poor Countries, Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China, reform of the U.S. securities markets, and the restoration and protection of the Florida Everglades.
Lee was born and raised in Ocala, Fla. He received a B.S. degree in Journalism and Finance from the University of Florida and a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics.
