  • Elementary school and Head Start programs to teach children about dengue control
  • Public service announcements
  • Interactive exhibit at the Children’s Museum
  • Boy Scout merit badge program

Wherever possible, community-based dengue prevention programs should build on existing resources and organizations. There are several examples of community-based dengue prevention programs in Puerto Rico, including:

  • An elementary school program and a Head Start program, where elementary and preschool children are taught about dengue and its control;
  • Public service announcements on television and radio;
  • An interactive exhibit on dengue at the Children's Museum; and
  • A Boy Scout merit badge program that teaches scouts how to identify larvae and eliminate larval habitats.
