EITC Information for IRS Partners |
|
You can help promote the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) by using your communication network so more eligible people receive it, bringing more dollars into your community. A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of taxes owed. EITC is a refundable credit, meaning workers can reduce their tax to zero and then receive a refund of any remaining credit.
Your organization can sponsor Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites in your community to prepare tax returns for those who cannot prepare their own and cannot afford professional help.
EITC Awareness Day – January 30, 2009
Organizations, governments, employers and others interested in helping taxpayers who earn less than $41,646 get the tax credit they deserve are invited to join together and raise awareness about EITC on Friday, January 30, 2009.
IRS partners are invited to join EITC Awareness Day activities. Contact your IRS relationship manager or contact IRS at partner@irs.gov for information about how you can get involved in your community.
