Concerns
Recent news reports of anthrax in the mail have certainly raised concerns regarding exposure to chemical and biological agents. Other instances have been reported of powders being sent in envelopes through the mail; after testing, the powders have been found not to contain anthrax.  Hoaxes however, can also cause a great deal of anxiety and therefore are subject to federal prosecution.  Everyone is urged to remain vigilant and careful in handling mail both at work and in your homes.  All personnel should maintain an enhanced awareness regarding the receipt of suspicious letters or packages.  Please refer to the guidance provided concerning suspicious mail and threatening phone calls.
