Wildfire continues to be a minor though serious threat throughout the islands. Through the Forest Service wildfire responsibilities, the Institute continues its key leadership role assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In fiscal year 1996 there were two hurricanes, which affected the area and required federal assistance to the insular government agencies. |
