Picture of Border Patrol Activities

As a returning veteran, you will find any number of opportunities and benefits available to you as part of the Border Patrol. Perhaps none is more important than the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you acquired during your military service to build a new career and new life for yourself and your family. With former military personnel representing a very large percentage of the Patrol, you will also be embraced by a culture that feels familiar and right.

The Opportunities

Think of a detail you’d like to be on as you acquire new training and experience. Does the ATV team sound good to you? The mounted patrol? Search and rescue? Riding a chopper? Surveillance? Intelligence? You can also think about career opportunities outside the field, in an administrative or public information role. How far you go within the Border Patrol is largely in your hands, directly connected to your desire to learn new skills and prove your abilities.

The Benefits

Salary potential within the Border Patrol is 70k within 3 years. Benefits represent the full, robust package for Federal Law Enforcement employees, including the Thrift Savings Plan (with agency matching contributions); the Military Buy-Back Program; health, dental and vision; fully paid training and uniforms; student loan repayment; and the Federal Law Enforcement Retirement Plan.

As part of the Federal Law Enforcement System, you can, in the future, also explore the different career opportunities within the Federal system for which your military and Border Patrol service make excellent credentials. You will find the Border Patrol is extremely supportive of those who wish to serve in the National Guard.
