NIDCR Oral Microbe Microarray Initiative (NOMMI) Application Instructions

Investigators interested in obtaining NOMMI microarrays should submit a brief application as described below. The application must contain the following:

  • Cover Sheet - This will state the principal investigator's name, institution, address, phone number, fax number, email address, proposal title, and targeted organism. It can also contain similar information for a designated contact person and co-investigators.
  • Standard PHS Biosketch - Use the PHS 398 grant application format (MS Wordalso see Biographical Sketch Sample; or PDF version PDF File). When listing your research support, include direct costs per project when reporting ongoing and completed research projects in the research support section. If the proposal is a collaborative effort, both investigators should submit their PHS Biosketches and include the Other Support Pages. This section should be limited to 4 pages per Biosketch.
  • Research Plan - The Research Plan should clearly state the specific aims, the significance of the research question, the potential impact on the field, and the experimental design to be used. State how many array slides are being requested. The Research Plan should be limited to three (3) pages.
  • Resources and Environment - The applicant should summarize the resources and expertise available to design, perform, and interpret the experiments including data analysis. This should be limited to 1 page.
  • Data Agreement - The applicant should document his/her agreement to the release of data in a timely manner in a publicly available database. Also, the applicant should document an agreement to adhere to standards for the recording and reporting of microarray-based gene expression data (MIAME This external link provides additional information that is consistent with the intended purpose of the NIDCR site.), when adopted by the research community and requested by NIDCR.

The application must be complete and contain all the information requested in the guidelines. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant without further review. Submit the original application and one (1) copy to:
