Lincoln, Pryor, and Berry Announce Rural Development Funds for Stone County

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced that the City of Mountain View will receive a $47,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Program. The funding will be used to purchase three new police cars for the city’s police department. The department’s current vehicles are in need of replacement due to high mileage and use.

“As first responders, local law enforcement units play an integral role in keeping our communities safe,” Lincoln said. “These federal dollars will allow Mountain View officials to continue to provide the best possible service for residents. I remain dedicated to ensuring that our state receives the resources it needs to keep Arkansans safe.”

“In times of emergency, these police cars will provide Mountain View first responders with quick, reliable transportation,” said Pryor.  “These funds are an excellent example of how federal, state and local officials can work together in order to keep our communities safe.”
“We have a responsibility to ensure that every single community in Arkansas has the equipment it needs to protect its citizens in emergency situations,” said Berry. “These federal dollars will help make Mountain View a safer community for its residents.”
USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
