Environmental Chemistry
The Environmental Chemistry Branch conducts research in long-term groundwater monitoring, environmental chemistry, proteomics, and analytical chemistry methodology. Long-term groundwater monitoring research focuses on development of improved biosensors, miniaturized mass spectrometers, and solventless extraction. Environmental chemistry research is aimed at investigation of the biochemistry and metabolism of ordnance-related compounds (ORC). Protemics research involves the determination of and critical effects of toxins on differential protein expression. Analytical method development is focused on ultra-sensitive methodology for ORC, perchlorate, dredged material contaminants, and other critical environmental contaminants. |
