This publication provides information on oceanographic data held by the National Oceanographic Data Center in U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). In a series of data distribution plots, it shows the locations of about 500,000 observation locations of 15 different data types held by the NODC at the time of publication. In this data inventory the U.S. EEZ has been divided into six major areas for presentation of the data distribution information. These are the U.S. east coast, gulf coast, and west coast; Puerto Rico; Alaska; and the Pacific Islands. Because of their widely- scattered locations, the Pacific Islands have been divided into three sub-areas. These are Midway, Johnston Island, and Hawaii; Howland and Baker Islands, Palmyra Atoll, Jarvis Island, and American Samoa; and the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and Wake Island.
