Representative Berry with Senators Lincoln and Pryor Announce Nearly $1 Million for Pocahontas Head Start

WASHINGTON –

U.S. Representative Marion Berry, with Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, today announced the award of a Head Start grant for activities in Pocahontas, AR.

The $938,990 grant represents the balance of the fiscal year 2003 funding owed to Randolph County to provide Head Start services to 342 children.

“The importance of Head Start services is undeniable,” Berry said. “I am pleased with the continued funding of Head Start services in Pocahontas and throughout Arkansas’ First District and I will continue to work to ensure future funding needs are met. Adequately preparing our children for school is the best first step towards creating an educated work force – the single greatest driver of our economic growth.”
