WASHINGTON – United States Representative Marion Berry, with Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, today announced $10,000 that will be used by local development councils to assist families in building homes throughout Craighead and Poinsett Counties.
The grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will provide "pre-development" funds for the Crowley's Ridge Development Council (CRDC) to offer assistance in recruiting, screening, packaging loans, and other activities for prospective self-help housing applicants. The CRDC is currently developing a final application for a "Self-Help Technical Assistance Grant," with a proposal to assist 20 families in building homes in Craighead and Poinsett Counties.
