Berry, Lincoln and Pryor Announces Nearly a Half Million in Grants for Local Fire Departments
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Marion Berry, along with Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, announced today that multiple fire departments in Arkansas’ First Congressional District have been awarded $457,710 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

 

This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public. 

 

These grants are used for training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. 

 

·                    Piggott Volunteer Fire Department; Piggott, AR - $38,250 for operations and firefighter safety

·                    Newark Volunteer Fire Department; Newark, AR - $100,465 for operations and firefighter safety

·                    DeValls Bluff Volunteer Fire Department; DeValls Bluff, AR - $68,795 for operations and firefighter safety

·                    Paragould Fire Department; Paragould, AR - $131,400 for a firefighting vehicle

·                    City of Viola Fire and Rescue; Viola, AR - $118,800 for a firefighting vehicle

 

These awards are part of the 33rd round of grant announcements.
