General Info: This trail begins right off Highway 199 near the intersection with South Fork Road (Smith River). The trail follows an old gold mining ditch which parallels Myrtle Creek. Lush-thick vegetation, redwoods and wildflowers are found along the way. Trail takes approximately 1 hour to leisurely hike round trip. There are 15 interpretive stops along the way which highlight the mining, cultural and geologic history of Myrtle Creek. There is also access to fishing on the Smith River. The trail was maintained in 2006.

Access: The trailhead is located at Milepost 7.0 on Highway 199, 10 miles east of Crescent City and 8 miles west of Gasquet. Park on the south (river) side of the highway. Use caution when crossing Hwy 199 to reach the trailhead.
