TITLE:   NIH’s New Electronic Grant Application Process and the SF424 (R&R)

PURPOSE:   By May 2007 all research grant applications for NIH will have to be submitted electronically through Grants.gov using the SF424 Research & Related (R&R) form set. This training session, geared toward the applicant community, provided an overview of NIH's transition plans, the submission process and the new form set. A question and answer session followed the formal presentations.

WHO:   This training was open to both the general public and to NIH staff.

COST:   This training session was free for both attendees and VideoCast viewers.

LIMITED SEATING:   On-site participation was limited to 500 people per session and seating preference was given to the applicant community. Space permitting, NIH staff were allowed to register for in-person attendance beginning January 4, 2006.

VIDEOCAST AVAILABLE:   Both the morning and afternoon sessions were available for remote viewing via VideoCast, NIH's streaming video service. Due to limits in the number of concurrent viewers, VideoCast participants are encouraged to view the sessions in groups to allow for maximum participation.

Access to the VideoCast will require RealPlayer software. Links to download RealPlayer and the list of VideoCast events can be found at http://videocast.nih.gov/. Questions submitted by VideoCast viewers were addressed either during the session or after the fact. Responses to frequent questions will be incorporated into "Frequently Asked Questions" that will be later posted on the Electronic Submission of Grant Applications website.
