Hensarling Urges Democrats to Keep the Internet Tax Free
Another Day, Another Threat of a Democrat Tax Increase

Washington D.C.Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, today warned House Democrats that the Internet must remain tax free for all Americans.  Hensarling is a cosponsor of H.R. 743, the bipartisan Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act of 2007, which House Democrats continue to stall taking action on.  The tax moratorium on the Internet previously passed by House Republicans expires on November 1, 2007.

Hensarling issued the following statement:

“Another day, another threat of a Democrat tax increase.  Is there anything that Democrats won’t try to tax?” asked Hensarling.  American families are already taxed to death.  Nearly everything we do is taxed, whether it’s drinking your morning coffee or making phone call home.  Now Democrats want to tax internet?   It’s as though they can’t get enough, they’ve run out of things to tax in real life so they’ve now moved into cyberspace.”

“The internet has been a boon to our economy, created millions of jobs and has served as an invaluable learning tool for our children.  I urge the House Democrat Leadership to take immediate action to ensure that hard working Americans and their families are not punished simply for using the internet.”
