Maurice Sendak

Maurice Sendak is an award-winning author and illustrator of children’s books. Since 1951, he has produced more than 80 books. His most famous book, “Where the Wild Things Are,” remains as one of the ten best-selling books of all time. He has received every major award for excellence in children’s literature, including the Caldecott Medal and the American Book Award. Other notable works include “The Nutshell Library,” “In the Night Kitchen” and “Outside Over There.” In 1990, Sendak founded The Night Kitchen, a national theater company devoted to the development of quality productions for children.
