Business Spotlight: ACT2
The ACT2 Enterprise Team produces, writes, edits, and publishes environmental documents. ACT2 provides a broad range of ecosystem analysis skills to project managers throughout the Government. They ensure that sound, defensible analysis documents are produced that enable implementation of resource management activities in support of individual Forest Plan goals and objectives. Through a better understanding of the steps required to complete projects, they achieve financial awareness and improve accountability on the part of their clients and the team.
ACT2 started as a two-person team in 1999 with Judy Hahn and Annie Buma as co-owners. Since then the team has expanded to include an office manager, fisheries biologist, wildlife biologist, two earth scientists, and an office assistant. There is desire to keep the team small enough to communicate easily, and large enough to undertake sizeable projects.
With ACT2's assistance, individuals burdened with project overload are able to sleep at night. They are confident that the necessary paper work is being taken care of and completed on time. ACT2 gives relief to Resource Specialists so they can work in their field of expertise, instead of sitting in front of a computer, spending their time writing.
As the agency continues to downsize and the bulk of the workforce approaches retirement age, ACT2 provides the skill and experience that is currently in short supply and becoming less available over time. They supplement and support the current workforce in accomplishing agency priorities.
