"Charting the Course to a New World in Cancer Surveillance"
January 12, 2009 - Preliminary Program and Registration are Going Electronic!
In an effort to provide an environmentally-friendly alternative to hard copy brochures for the Annual Conference, NAACCR will distribute the 2009 NAACCR Annual Conference Preliminary Program materials by electronic copy only. The Preliminary Program and registration links will be sent to all members via the NAACCR ListServ. In addition, to ease the process of registration, all registration for the 2009 Annual Conference will be done via web-based electronic registration. We will still be able to accommodate payment via purchase order, check, and credit card. The Preliminary Program will be user-friendly and downloadable for printing and viewing if desired. Registration will be available electronically and hotel reservations can be made on-line by using the hotel web-based system or by telephone in mid-February. Additional details regarding the Preliminary Program and conference registration will be available in mid-February also. Please note that no hard copies of the Preliminary Program and registration forms will be sent by mail. However, Final Programs will still be printed and available at the conference in June. All materials and registration links will be sent to members via the ListServ and available on the NAACCR Annual Conference web site in February.

October 17, 2008 - Call for Abstracts Form
The North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) is pleased to invite you to submit abstracts for presentation at the NAACCR 2009 Annual Conference to be held June 13-19, 2009 in San Diego, California. Abstracts may be submitted via mail, courier, or email to Venue West using the submission form and must be received by 5:00 PM Pacific Time on Friday, December 5, 2008. Each submitter is responsible for obtaining confirmation that abstracts and required forms have been received. Late submissions will not be accepted.

This year's conference, "Charting the Course to a New World in Cancer Surveillance," will highlight new directions in cancer surveillance with current and future technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer as well as innovation in informatics as it affects cancer data collection. To navigate these new directions, courses that provide new skill sets such as program evaluation methodologies as well as change management will be offered. In addition, the use of cancer registry data to describe cancer in diverse populations will also be discussed.

October 6, 2008 - Theme and Hotel Rates
Summer is coming to a close and Fall is approaching. Your Program Committee has convened and is planning for another successful annual conference in San Diego, California on June 13-19, 2009. Our conference hotel is the Westin San Diego.

Several suggested topics have been discussed by the Program Committee for the conference relating to the conference theme, "Charting the Course to a New World in Cancer Surveillance." These include: Public Health Genomics, Cancer in Diverse Populations, Cancer Informatics, Evaluation of Central Cancer Registry Processes, etc.

The conference dates are later in June 2009 and will be held after the NCRA and IACR meetings. Thus, save June 13-20, 2009, and plan now for your attendance to the conference. The hotel rate is as follows: Single/double $249; Triple $289; and Quad $309. Hotel reservation information will be available in the coming months.

October 3, 2008 - Call for Abstracts
You will soon receive information regarding the Call for Abstracts for the 2009 NAACCR Annual Conference in San Diego, California. The conference will be held June 13-19, 2009. Please take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your work to the entire NAACCR community.

The deadline to submit abstracts will be December 5, 2008. You will receive detailed information regarding topics and submission requirements by the middle of October. Call for Abstracts information will also be available on the NAACCR website. We look forward to your submission and attendance at the 2009 Annual Conference.
