Background
John Stein is the Deputy Science Director, and prior to that served as the Salmon Science Coordinator for the Center, and as the Director of the Environmental Conservation Division. He currently is also the Deputy Director of NOAA's Ocean and Human Health Center located at the NW Fisheries Science Center.

Current Research
John currently serves as the Chair of the Marine Environmental Quality Committee of the North Pacific Marine Sciences Organization (PICES) and as Vice-Chair of the PICES Science Board. He also serves on committees in the Pacific Northwest that address the recovery of listed Pacific Salmon. John is also Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington, Department of Environmental Health and Occupational Health Sciences.
