Background
David is currently an ORISE appointee. Before joining the Center in 2000 as a NRC postdoctoral fellow, David received a B.A. in Biology from Reed College and a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Washington. In between degrees, he worked as a research technician and computer programmer. David is experienced in data acquisition and analysis, electrophysiology, image processing, sensory physiology and behavior, immunocytochemistry, confocal and fluorescence imaging, and computer programming.
Current Research
David is studying the sublethal impacts of contaminants on the neurophysiology and behavior of juvenile salmon. The experiments being performed are designed to link the physiological impacts of contaminant exposure to behavioral impacts of the exposure. A current focus of the research is the effect of copper on the olfactory neurophysiology and olfactory-mediated behaviors of coho salmon.
