FVS Self-Tutorials

The FVS Staff of the Forest Management Service Center provides self-tutorials. Download the tutorial setup file to your computer. Run the setup files on your computer to automatically install the tutorial for your use.

• Forest Vegetation Simulator Tutorial (.exe, 10-31-2008, 17.5M)
  This tutorial is a self-paced introduction to the basic concepts related to growth and yield, harvesting, regeneration, thinning, fire and fuels, and FVS modeling. It identifies components of the FVS system including pre- and post-processors, and describes the Suppose interface. The tutorial includes exercises to perform a basic stand projection and to create various tables and reports.
• A History of the Forest Vegetation Simulator: 1970s to 2008 (.exe, 10-31-2008, 52.5M)
  Gary Dixon, former FVS Group Leader, chronicles the development of the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS). This Portable Electronic Presentation (PEP) provides a history, background, description, and capabilities of the FVS modeling system.
