Consultation
Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) requires federal agencies to use their existing authorities
to conserve threatened and endangered species and, in consultation
with the Service, to ensure that their actions do not jeopardize listed
species or destroy or adversely modify their critical habitat.
Do you need to consult with the Service on your project? Refer to the ESA Consultation Guide map (pdf) for the Anchorage Fish and Wildlife Field Office (covering south coastal Alaska, the Aleutians, and portions of western and interior Alaska) to determine if ESA listed species may be found in the vicinity of your project.
Not sure who to contact? The alphabetical list of Alaska Villages by Field Office (pdf) identifies which Fish and Wildlife Field Office to contact depending on the location of your project.
More information on the consultation process, helpful websites, definitions, and species-specific life history and distribution information for Anchorage Fish and Wildlife Field Office ESA trust species can be found in A Consultation Guide for Southcentral Alaska.

Act, visit the FWS
