Memorial Hermann Hospital Flood Protection Project, Houston, Texas

As a result of heavy rains and floodings in southeast Texas on 8-9 June, 2001, related to Tropical Storm Allison, President Bush declared a major disaster for 27 counties in Texas. One of the hardest hit areas was in southeast Houston in Harris County where up to 15 inches of rain fell on already saturated soils flooding large urbanized areas including the Texas Medical Center Complex. The Memorial Herman Hospital System has applied for funding under the Public Assistance Program administered by FEMA.
