The East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) has recognized the need for a fire-safe environment in several parks situated in the East Bay Hills of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, California. Between 1923 and 1995, 14 major wildfires occurred in the East Bay Hills, burning over 11,000 acres, destroying over 3,500 structures, and causing 26 fatalities. DBRPD has applied for assistance from FEMA. This Environmental Assessment has been prepared according to the requirements of NEPA's and FEMA's implementing regulations.
