'Hispanic Agenda' Targets Latino Concerns at NIH By José Alvarado
The Department of Health and Human Services has launched a major initiative to
reach the burgeoning numbers of Hispanic/Latino people in the nation, who often
suffer high rates of disease and health problems due to limited access to health
care. A key goal is to raise the disproportionately low Hispanic representation in
the workforce of agencies such as NIH. The "Hispanic Agenda for Action:
Improving Services to Hispanic Americans" complements efforts already under
way here to increase Hispanic employees.
Director's Pittman Lecture
Dr. Lee E. Limbird, professor of pharmacology and chair of the department of
pharmacology at Vanderbilt University, will present the NIH Director's Margaret
Pittman Lecture, on Wednesday, Sept.17 at 3 p.m. in Masur Auditorium, Bldg.
10. The title of her lecture is "Alpha2-Adrenergic Receptors Achieve Signaling
Specificity via Coupling to Distinct Effectors and Targeting to Discrete Surface
Domains."
