Biographical/Historical Data:	The Local Legacies Project documented local traditions from all fifty states, as well as United States trusts, territories, and the District of Columbia, to celebrate the Bicentennial of the Library of Congress. Members of Congress and individuals across the nation were involved with Local Legacies teams who collected materials related to the creative arts, crafts, customs, and occupations representing traditional community life; signature events such as festivals and parades; and ways that communities observe local and national historical events.
Summary:	Arranged by format and accessible by state or locality, the collection includes photographs, sound recordings, videorecordings, correspondence, published and unpublished materials, and artifacts related to community events, traditional occupations and practices, and cultural and religious life across the United States and its territories.
