Abstract:

This report examines the use of health information technology (HIT) in frontier and rural public health programs at the United States-Mexico border. It describes contextual factors of the border region that influence HIT adoption, implementation, and effectiveness; experiences of public health programs with HIT; and the constraints, opportunities, and uncertainties regarding the advancement of HIT at the border.
