USDA Forest Products Laboratory - serves the public as the nation's leading wood research institute.  Research concentrates on pulp and paper products, housing and structural uses of wood, wood preservation, wood and fungi identification.

National Association of Development Organizations - provides training, information and representation for regional development organizations in small metropolitan and rural America. The association, a public interest group founded in 1967, is the largest and leading advocate for a regional approach to community, economic and rural development and provides a network for its members to share ideas and innovations.

National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils -  the National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils (NARC&DC) was established in 1988 to represent America's 315 local Resource Conservation and Development Councils. The local councils deliver coordinated resource conservation and rural development assistance throughout rural America. By working together on local RC&D Councils; communities, all levels of Government, and grassroots organizations work together to develop and implement solutions to widespread problems and to develop opportunities that will help sustain rural communities, local economies, and natural resources.

National Endowment for the Arts - a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and the Forest Service, that supports arts-based projects in three areas: 1) the arts and economic development; 2) the arts and community development; and 3) the arts and community heritage. Southern Rural Development Center - one of four regional rural development centers supporting research and extension efforts to improve the lives of people living in non-metropolitan areas of the United States.

Sustainable Communities Network - links citizens to resources and to one another to create healthy, viable, sustainable communities. This site provides information on growing a sustainable economy.

Wood in Transportation National Information Center - demonstrates and transfers modern timber bridge technology that can be used in a full range of transportation applications to improve the Nation's transportation infrastructure.

Wood Transportation Structures Research - provides readily accessible current information related to wood transportation structures research, including the research needs assessment, a current research summary, and research publications.

Communities Committee of the Seventh American Forest Congress -  a diverse group of people from across the United States who believe local participation in stewardship of natural resources is critical to both forest ecosystem health and community well-being.  The Communities Committee mission is to focus attention on the interdependence of America's forests and the vitality of rural and urban communities.

National Association of Conservation Districts - is the non-governmental, nonprofit organization that represents nearly 3,000 conservation districts across the nation.  Conservation districts -- almost one in every county -- are helping people to conserve land, water, forests, wildlife, and related natural resources.  NACD Publications.

Red Lodge Clearinghouse - a resource to support, nurture, and connect collaborative natural resource groups working to resolve conflicts for the long-term health of the land.
