Creating Zones of Agreement in Montana

In September 2007, conservationists, motorized users, outfitters, loggers, mill operators, state government and the Forest Service collaboratively established a set of restoration principles to help guide efforts in the state of Montana. Overcoming decades of disparity and indifference, the group developed 13 principles to help steer and evaluate restoration projects, programs and policies. Building Capacity to Connect People and Nature

The Forest Service and key partners met April 15-17th in Salt Lake City to discuss ways in which internal and external capacity could be built within the realm of partnerships and the Youth, Volunteer and Hosted Programs. Collaboration in Stewardship Contracting: Sustainable Northwest recently developed an informational guide for the Forest Service and its partners involved in stewardship contracting. It describes opportunities for collaboration throughout the contracting process, offers suggestions of best practices, and includes links to a wealth of additional resources.
