ESTABLISHMENT OF THE RED HILLS LAKE COUNTY
VITICULTURAL AREA

Washington, DC - The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), published a final rule in the Federal Register on July 12, 2004, establishing the Red Hills Lake County viticultural area in Lake County in northern California. This new viticultural area is entirely within the Clear Lake viticultural area, which is, in turn, within the larger multi-county North Coast viticultural area. We designate viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase.

The final rule is effective in 60-days, September 10, 2004.
