CSRA College Night

CSRA College Night Provides $17,000 in Scholarships to Area Students

Approximately 8,000 high school students from throughout the CSRA recently descended upon the James Brown Arena in Augusta for this year’s CSRA College Night.

The masses of eager students roaming two levels of the civic center generated an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement. For many, this was their first important step towards selecting a college or university.

“College Night provides a valuable resource to CSRA high school students as they decide which college or university to attend,” said Chuck Munns, President and CEO, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC. “Working with our co-sponsors, we’re pleased to help continue a tradition that provides one-stop shopping for a large and diverse selection of college and university recruiters.”

Information booths manned by representatives from more than 150 colleges and universities attended the event.

Scholarships totaling approximately $17,000 were presented to several lucky students attending CSRA College Night, which was held on Thursday, Sept. 11. The annual event is free and open to the public.

CSRA College Night is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy-Savannah River Operations Office, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, SRP Federal Credit Union and Clear Channel Radio/Power107; in partnership with Augusta Area Independent Schools, Aiken County Public School Career Specialists and Counselors, Wackenhut Services, Inc., Augusta Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Communigraphics, Southern Nuclear - Plant Vogtle, Society of Women Engineers (Central Savannah River Area Section), Aiken Junior Woman’s Club, American Nuclear Society (Savannah River Section), South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers (Aiken Chapter), American Association of Cost Engineers International, (CSRA Section), American Society of Civil Engineers (Central Savannah River Valley Branch) and Washington Safety Management Solutions.
