Remembering Slavery, the complete boxed set comprising a 355-page book and two audio tapes, contains little-known information about slave life. Few people alive today have heard the actual voices of those who experienced slavery, but some of the only known original recordings were selected for this joint publication in conjunction with the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Production's radio documentary. In addition to the first-person narratives, readings by Lou Gossett, Jr., Debbie Allen, James Earl Jones, Melba Moore, and others are included. Accounts include relationships with owners, work, family, culture, the Civil War, and Emancipation.
Description: The complete boxed set (7 x 10 inches) includes a clothbound book with two 60-minute audiocassettes, 352 pages, 50 b/w photographs. (ISBN: 1-56584-425-4). A paperback copy of the book can also be purchased separately. Availability: Usually ships in 3-4 business days. Product #: 21105001 |
