Endangered Species Consultation
Habitat Conservation Planning
We work with
private landowners, corporations, state or local governments,
or other non-Federal landowners in developing Habitat
Conservation Plans (HCPs)
if they wish to conduct activities on their land that
might incidentally harm (or "take") federally
listed endangered or threatened wildlife. The HCPs are
part of the incidental take permit process (Section
10 of the ESA) and should be designed to offset any
harmful effects the proposed activity might have on
the species. The HCP process allows development to proceed
while promoting listed species conservation.
