Current Conditions

Winter has arrived in the eastern Sierra! With 3 to 4 feet of new snow in the high elevations, all trailheads and trails are now accessible only for winter travel.

Many trailheads are beyond road closures so be sure to check weather, snow and avalanche conditions before venturing into the backcountry.

Please remember that wilderness permits are still required in he winter for overnight travel into all wilderness areas of the Inyo National Forest (except Boundary Peak Wilderness).

The Lake Mary Road into the Lakes Basin is open to Tamarack Lodge at Twin Lakes. The remainder of the basin is closed to vehicle traffic.

FIRES, EMERGENCIES, ALERTS AND RESTRICTIONS

There are no fire restrictions in place on the forest at this time.
