Recreational Activities: Winter

Winter Sports

The fun does not stop when the snow flies. For many people it has just begun. Whether you prefer the serenity of a backcountry ski, the speed of the downhill runs, or the power of the snowmobile, there is no one-way to see what this Forest offers. Spectacular vistas and entertaining winter recreation opportunities await people with all levels of experience and interests.

WINTER SAFETY

Winter recreation can be extremely rewarding. At the same time, however, the potential for extreme weather conditions in the Sierra Nevada range is always present. Taking safety precautions with these extreme conditions in mind may make the difference during an emergency. More information about winter safety tips.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING AND SNOWSHOEING

Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing are both popular ways to explore the forest. Visit these designated trail systems to get a taste of what the forest has to offer winter recreationists.  More information about Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing.

DOWNHILL SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING
