The VA Information Resource Center (VIReC) is one of three resource centers of the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Service. It was established in July 1998 to serve the VA research community and is funded by HSR&D Service Grant SDR 98-004. FY2008 VIReC Organization Chart.

The mission of VIReC is to improve the quality of Department of Veterans Affairs research that utilizes databases and information systems.

VIReC develops and disseminates knowledge about databases of interest to VA researchers; provides service to researchers who require information about data resources specific to their research; and represents interests of researchers regarding VA databases and information systems.

VIReC staff, scientists, and advisors include database experts, informatics experts, research methodologists, and experts for various VA database content areas. Our website serves as a researchers’ guide to VA data by providing a portal to our products and services.
